After a year spent working as an understudy in Canada’s biggest musical, Babz Johnston finds herself backstage again—alone, exhausted, and reflecting on the strange, thrilling ride that got her here. A career Spice Girls impersonator, she has spent countless hours, nights, and sweat-drenched performances as the Wannabe “Ginger Spice” in a hit tribute group. But following a “tour from hell,” and the musical’s curtain call, Babz finds herself asking: Now what? Featuring an original pop score and mostly true stories from the road and beyond, we find Babz at a moment of reckoning as she chronicles the thrills and perils of a life lived in someone else’s platforms.
