10x10x10 and Paprika Partnership

Due to the overwhelming success of our relationship with the Paprika Festival in 2009, The Fringe is expanding our youth outreach through the 10x10x10 initiative, which will see the Fringe connect with youth on three levels:

1. 10: The Fringe will continue to support and mentor a production featuring 10 young artists, chosen from the Paprika Festival, featuring it at a regular venue for 5 performances. This support will come through free participation in the festival, a return of 100% of the box office to the young artists, and up to $500 in support of their production’s costs.

2. 10x10=100: The Fringe will offer the approximately 100 Paprika Participants and recent alumni a rush pass to the Next Stage Theatre Festival, allowing them to see any show at the festival for free if tickets are available. Furthermore, we will offer them the opportunity to meet with participating artists through talkbacks and a social event held specifically for them, helping to connect these young artists with professionals at the “emerging artist” level.

3. 10x10x10=1000: To bring the Fringe’s engagement and commitment to youth to a truly city-wide level, 1000 youth rush passes will be distributed to students (under 18) across the GTA. We will identify priority student groups to target, and students from relevant programs (English, Theatre) to receive the passes. Rush Passes are good for four tickets to any production at the festival, subject to availability.

The Paprika Festival is a FREE youth theatre festival for young artists under the age of 21 and runs for two weeks every March.
